LiveChat to SendGrid Integration Guide

Just follow the steps in this guide, and your Live Chat submissions will start showing up in SendGrid automatically.

Prerequisites:

  • You have access to both a LiveChat account and a SendGrid account.
  • You are logged in to both platforms.
Step 1 Click on App Credentials
Step 2 Create a New Credential
Step 3 Configure app details
  • Add your App Name
  • Select SendGrid from the Multiselect Dropdown
Step 4 Add your SendGrid API Key and click Verify and save

If you’ve already done that, continue below to create the space.

Step 5 Click on Add Space to create a new space
Step 6 Select your Source App from the dropdown

Choose LiveChat

Step 7 Copy the Webhook URL generated for LiveChat
Step 8 Steps to Verify a Webhook in LiveChat

Log in to your LiveChat account and go to the Dashboard.

  • On the left-side menu, scroll down and click on “Apps”.

  • At the bottom left under Apps, click on “Automate with Webhooks

Step 9 Click the "Add Webhook" button to generate new Webhook
Step 10 A pop-up will appear paste your webhook URL in the "Target URL" field
  • click the  “Save” button.
  • Your webhook will be verified (LiveChat will send a test request to confirm it).
Step 11 From the dashboard's sidebar Menu, go to Settings and then click on Forms.

Under the Menu, select Pre-Chat to access the page.
Note: For capturing lead data, it is recommended to enable pre-chat form from the livechat dashboard as shown below

Step 12 Start a Demo Chat Session using LiveChat
Step 13 End the chat session to send data to the integration platform
Step 14 Go back to the integration platform and click Verify Webhook, then click Continue
Step 15 Select your Target App from the dropdown
  • Choose SendGrid
Step 16 Choose the "Contacts" as SendGrid Model
Step 17 Select the SendGrid account you created earlier while setting up your app credentials
Step 18 Click on save and then Map Fields
Step 19 Match LiveChat fields to SendGrid fields

Example: Name → Full Name, Email → Email Address

Step 20 Choose how you want to save your space

You will see two buttons: Save as Draft and Save and Activate.

  • Click Save and Activate, your space will be saved and activated automatically.

  • Click Save as Draft, This will save your space, but it won’t be active. You can activate it later by following the next steps.

Step 21 From the Action Column, click to Activate Your Space
Step 22 Start another Demo Chat Session using LiveChat
Step 24 Log in to your SendGrid account → Go to your Contancts list

 You should see the new contact added from the chat interaction
